Out of all of these procedures, the one I noticed missing most during practicum was a clear washroom system. I could definitely tell how quickly interruptions add up throughout the day, so having something simple like a quiet signal or sign-out system would make a huge difference for keeping the flow of the classroom going without constantly stopping instruction.
Outside of that, I genuinely loved using consistent routines and procedures in the classroom. I noticed students became more independent, transitions became smoother, and the classroom overall felt calmer and more predictable. It also helped students know what to expect each day, which made many of them more confident and successful throughout routines and learning activities.
